I'm sitting with fingers crossed for it to be scrubbed for about another 4½ weeks, so that it takes off when I'm out there!

I missed one a couple of years ago (August 2009) when I was out there as it kept getting pushed back and back and back and after about the 5th delay, it finally launched around the time my plane touched down on the rainy side of the Atlantic again. Would be brilliant to see the last ever Shuttle go up...

You might enjoy a read of Last flight of the Space Shuttle: a 30-year retrospective if you've got 20 quiet minutes this afternoon.

Being in Florida for a shuttle launch is pretty epic, we were 50miles away from the launch pad, but the noise was unbelieveable, and it launched at 1am local time so you could see the burners against the night sky so clearly it was fantastic

Watching NASA TV here ... very interesting with a number of on-board cameras as well as just outside the door of the shuttle. Shame it's the last one... I would have loved to see a launch.
