RabbieBurns Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 is this possible on windows? I have a 2008R2 Server with a shared folder, and a WDTVLive media box im trying to use to stream media from the server. I cannot for the life of me get it to see the server share. If i create a share the exact same way on Win7 the WDTVLive picks it up no problem. So my idea was to create a Win7 VM on the 2008R2 server, mount the 2008R2 share as a drive, and then share that drive so the WDTV will pick it up. But I cant seem to figure out how / if it is possible to re-share a mounted drive. I understand from a security POV why this might not be wanted, but I can achieve the above with a linux VM and mounting the share and using samba, which I might just end up doing, but is it possible to do with win7?
RabbieBurns Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 OK i figured out this problem. I had to enable to computer browser service on 2008R2. Anyway, would still be interested if it is posssible to reshare a share in windows.
Arthur Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I think so... MKLink /D C:\WDTV \\W2008R2\Media Net Share Media=C:\WDTV 1
RabbieBurns Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 Excellent thanks. I did not know about mklink command.
