And found this: Acer Aspire 3000: Botched RAM upgrade? *Did I fry the motherboard? : upgrade RAM, notebook computer "Did I do any major damage?" Shame I couldn't reply at the time, something along the lines of "Forcing memory in with a rubber mallet will not do it good.." 1
sted Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 had someone at the pc shop i used to work at do that (pc not laptop) hammered in litteraly 4 sticks of the wrong type of ram then wanted us to replace his motherboard and the ram lol

We all make mistakes but if you don't know, there's no excuse for not asking someone who does - be that the guy that fixes your IT problems/your school techy, the guy next door or Google.
tech_guy Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I've seen 'modified' graphics cards and RAM in the past. Why do people do this kind of stuff?!?! Only last week I was reading a blog written by a printer engineer who had to strip a laser printer apart to remove the toner cartridge that had been jammed in by the customer who had resorted to sawing a couple of the lugs off so that it would 'fit'......

synaesthesia Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 ^ Favourite workaround - it's easy to adjust the part of most browsers which tells websites what browser you have - you'd be surprised at what you can see if you just make websites think you're a google spider/bot.
