Morning guys,

Quick Question. A few laptops here have started getting the wrong DNS Suffix Search List meaning it can't find machines without using their FQDN. It used to be XXXX.XXXX.northants.sch.uk but now only shows up as XXXX.northants.sch.uk.

Three parts really.

1. How do we change the DNS Suffix of the rogue machines?

2. For my own learning where are the DNS Suffix normally set? GPO? DNS Server?

3. Anyone had experience with DNS Suffix dropping parts "randomly" on certain machines only?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

you can change dns suffix in advanced tcp/ip configuration on your network adapter or through gpo: Computer configuration\policies\administrative tools\network\dns client and then you configure policy setting named DNS Suffix Search List
