Hi guys

Im looking at moving across to Win 7 for our Sims workstations and was wondering if capita have release a technical install guide like they did with xp.

Not as far as i know. Have you checked on their SupportNet website. That's where it would be.

 

There are myriad threads here regarding issues with Win7 which you'll no doubt find useful.

 

With issue related to UAC, installing as administrator, which user maps the drive, which folders you need permissions to, and changes that are required for simsperm.bat to ensure the correct permissions are given to the user to name a few.

 

If you haven't started with windows 7 yet, i would strongly suggest you look into xp -> win7 migration guides especially with regards to user profiles and folder redirection. We have suffered greatly because of rushing this move, and now keep having users that cant run reports and the only solution is to reset their profile.

 

Also as the switch to win7 is often coupled with Office 2010, look out for issues with that. There have been lots of issues with people unable to run reports or them running slow.
