LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Is it possible? If you go via "Tools > Performance > Assessment > Marksheets" then the "Print Marksheets" option allows you to add the summary rows but the export option doesn't.
Sivadam Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 If the extra columns are saved on the Template then they do export! In fact I have just edited the columns on a Template by removing the pre-defined ones and re-inserting others and it still does work. i.e. it delivers the amended columns!
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 I'm talking about the Summary Rows that you can add to the bottom of the sheet, you can't save their on/off status and whilst the option is there to add them via print marksheet routine, it's not in export
Sivadam Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Apologies. I misread your post! Senility is fast kicking in! If you export 'Unformatted' then they do export!
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 We're getting crossed wires I think I know I can export them manually, one by one, from assessment manager, but what I want to do is export a batch of them in one go. I know how to export a batch (via Tools > Performance > Assessment > Marksheets), but doing it that way there is no option to add summary rows to the exported sheets
Sivadam Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) Again apologies. Exporting Marksheets via the Bulk export method does give you the option of adding extra columns, which do then export. Edited February 4, 2011 by Sivadam
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 I'm not trying to export the additional student data columns, I'm trying to export the summary rows. They're the 4 rows detailing Mean Points, Mean Grade, Total and Number of Results that you can add to marksheets.
Sivadam Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 It's Friday PM! I better go home ....................
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Me too! Could do without this (apparent) SIMS fail today
Sivadam Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I don't think it is possible. Looks like you will have to do it individually - or better still get the subject staff to export their own. Then again I ain't a clue who wants 'em or what you are hoping to do with them!
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 All I want to do is print them, but the formatting on SIMS' own batch print routine is awful for comment fields (they remain the same width as a grade column and end up having a word per line) so I'm having to export them and print via Excel (where, without any editing, they are formatted better!) If I had my way, none of them would be printed because they have access to them through SIMS, but it's very apparent that I'm here to do my job and keep my mouth shut (but that's a whole other rant!) Time to log another CR I think (or find an existing one). I think Capita could vastly improve SIMS if they got somebody to go through with a fine tooth comb and instil some consistency in to the system - it's infuriating that you can go from one screen to the next and be given completely different options, despite essentially working toward the same end goal! (this isn't the only place where SIMS lacks consistency, but I don't have time to go through picking out other examples right now)
Sivadam Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) I agree with you to some extent but what you are being asked to do seems inappropriate to me. If the Staff have access and it is them that needs the printout or whatever, then they should be doing that as it is just one/two click(s) of a button. The workforce reform agreement should be a two way agreement! And once committed to paper the data is outdated and a Data Protection risk! Capita have worked very hard to get SIMS available for Teacher use in the classroom - to save everybody time - including the Support Staff! Edited February 4, 2011 by Sivadam
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 That's fine in theory, but this is not omission by design. If it was, then you would not be able to print directly from SIMS the exact same data, as that holds the exact same problems. I'm all for ensuring data protection, but this clearly isn't that, this is just a missing feature that would have otherwise been useful
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Did that really just happen? Somebody pinch me, I must be dreaming! Sivadam, are you agreeing with me?! LOL jesting aside, CR number is: 1102-843533
Sivadam Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) I have never denied that there are faults with SIMS, as there will be with other software. I regularly state my opinon on these, but usually directly to Capita staff themselves. In general the issues are relatively minor when compared to the rest of the functionality. The exception to this is new functionality. I offered some quite serious criticisms of the Alternative Curriculum software at the UAT meeting re. this new functionality yesterday. Capita would not be able to act on those before the Spring Release but. hopefully, a few enhancement requests for future upgrades will be created! So Yes! I can agree with you. But if you had started the thread with 'SIMS is ......' (add your own expletive!) then I would have been collecting Red Squares again in no time! Edited February 4, 2011 by Sivadam 1
