lilmainy Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Hi all Does anyone know what the folder in a user home drive "My Sims Documents" is used for, we currently just have a list of username folders with blank .xml in each one. Thanks
LosOjos Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Hi lilmainy, and welcome to EduGeek The "My SIMS Documents" folder is used to store local copies of any documents users have opened in SIMS, such as documents attached to school bulletins or documents attached to the document server. It also stores the users custom dictionary files (i.e. the files SIMS spell checks against). There may be other uses of this folder, but in our setup that appears to be all it is used for
lilmainy Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Thank You Very Much For The Quick Answer
maelortech Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I managed to fix this today. Could be somehting unique to us though. We were getting "Access to My SIMS Documents" denied. Tried many things but finally found the problem, in the registry. The "Personal" user shell folder was pointed at a network share (something to do with a mapped drive, I suspect) So I went to Computer\HKEY_USERS\\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders and changed the "Personal" value to the proper "c:\users\\documents" folder. Like I said, could be unique to us, but might help you. 1
