Encryption for Android?

I'm close to purchasing an Android Tablet, to replace the binder full of information that I carry from school to school. My hope is that I can convert all of my documentation into pdf, so I can quickly and easily view it on a tablet.

 

Some of the information I would need access to is of a confidential nature (user names, passwords etc), so I would need to be able to encrypt the tablet, a folder, or each individual file within a folder.

 

Do any current Android users know of a utility that would allow me to do this?

 

(It would be Android 2.1 probably, if that makes a difference)
