Hard drive Surface Test

Hi guys,

This seems like a very simple problem but I can't figure it out.

I've been trying for days to backup my data on a new 1TB external drive. My preferred method is just to backup the files directly rather than using "backup software" that encapsulates your data and doesn't give you straight access.

But this time I thought I'd just do a disk copy, so I have an exact copy of my 320GB partition on the drive.

But each attempt has failed.

chkdsk is behaving oddly - it returns a few errors when run from within "EASEUS Partition Master 6.5.2", but not when run stand-alone (either in Windows or -r at bootup)

Finally I did a surface test with "MiniTool Partition Wizard" and I get a read error in a block.

 

My question is -- ok -- now what?

 

Otherwise - my computer is behaving perfectly and I haven't noticed any issues, and HDD Health says my drive Health is "Excellent".

*sigh* ... I hate hard drive headaches.
