phantomphan Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Please can someone tell me how to load this ****** programme onto a ****** CD which my ***** computer can then boot from in order to install the said prog??!!?? I am close to the end of my patience with this. I have downloaded file, used IsoBuster to open it and view all the files, but I cannot burn a bootable CD. What do I need to put on the CD? In plain simple english for an idiot please. thank you Phan
ChrisC Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 what program is it? someone here might of experienced similar? Chris
NetworkGeezer Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Why is necessary to boot off a CD to install a program? Normally this only done when you don't want to start the OS (as for imaging) or can't start OS rescure scenario. Do you mean you want the CD to autoplay when inserted into the drive?
CyberNerd Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I recall MS Fscked the iso - LNM a special MS 'version' of ISO (embrace, extend, extinguish). - I had trouble with k3b/gnombaker, IIRC nero did it in the end, or maybe i converted it?. THere was a thread about it somewhere.

Seriously though peeps, in word of few syllables, what files from the MS Learning Network Manager ISO do I put onto the CD that I burn, in order to make it bootable. OK, just made sense of: To burn an ISO you have to use a burn from image file option in your CD writer program. and have found such an option in my Nero - will see how it goes. Thanks all Phan
phantomphan Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 To burn an ISO you have to use a burn from image file option in your CD writer program. Thank You very much - I had tried all sorts of different options, but had not seen that one - as I type, the machine is booting from CD and beginning install of LNM - my problems are only just beginning I suspect - but thank you again Phantomphan
phantomphan Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 What lanuage is that... Wookie? Hope no offence was taken by this comment - just I'm not very tech savvy and didn't understand much of reply - not suggesting it was rubbish, just that it was over my head!! Thanks for all replies to my requests for help, all are genuinely appreciated. Phan

Phan None taken, I was a bit rushed this afternoon. My recollection was that the ISO provided is not a valid ISO9660. Microsoft often are unable to adhere to known standards, or more likely they just slightly change the 'standards' so that they ensure it only works with other MS products. The thread I was refering to is here: http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3059 The general concensus was that you'll need another iso burning package because of Microsofts incompetence.

It must be fate
