SimpleSi Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Just had a bit of a fright! Teacher said she couldn't get 6 netbooks onto t'internet - I went off to my lovely Ruckus admin webpage and all 6 AP's were disconnected! (and had been for last hour) Went to main cab - everything showing on (but its the usual right mess with 3 big switches and 2 little ones with CAT5 splitters in abundance!) From staff room I could talk to ruckus because its actually located in a small cab in the staff room but couldn't get out to internet - could ping main server as that is off this cabinet as well in the library next door. Tried internet from suite - no joy! So just pushed the big off button and took everything in the main cab out and switched on and prayed! It worked (but not very nice sounds coming from a fan of one the devices in the cab that didn't like stopping and starting rotating again!) I think I'm going to haveto spend some time and draw a network diagram out so I know what indiviual switch to power cycle next time! Simon
White_Fi Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Were you able to communicate with any of the AP's?
SimpleSi Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 No - as they were connected to the duff switch(es) in the main cabinet but the Ruckus controller is in the staff room cabinet (no room for it in the main one!) and the staff computer could talk to it OK. Just hope it was a random cosmic ray event regards Simon PS Must get the school to renew their Ruckus support with you in case the next fault IS a Ruckus one
