gnat Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Hi All Newbie here! I have a Nokia E71. Our email company who hosts our exchange are having problems sorting out an email problem I have. Basically within outlook I have several folders with rules as do majority of outlook users have! On my phone I can only get emails that go into my Inbox. I cannot view my folders or I cannot receive emails that go into these folders. I have tested with a POP3 account and the emails are sent into inbox so this works fine. However with exchange it isn't working. They have told me that it is impossible to get this working. Which seems ridiculous to me as what's the point of me having a phone to check emails whilst I am out of the office if I cannot get them! The only emails really that go into my inbox (that have no rule or folder) are junk! Their only suggestion was to duplicate all emails so that a copy goes into my inbox which in turn will go to my phone. This is not an option – it would be a nightmare! What is the point of being organised with folders and rules when you have a copy go into the inbox as well!! So my question is – how do you get emails to work properly on the E71? Any help will be muchly apprecaited!
RabbieBurns Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 the latest version of mailforexchange on the e71 supports multiple folders and also html emails.. 3.75 or something iirc 1
gnat Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 the latest version of mailforexchange on the e71 supports multiple folders and also html emails.. 3.75 or something iirc Thanks. DO I update the version through the handset or via Ovi?
RabbieBurns Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I cant remember where i did it to be honest, but its worth having the ovi store app installed on the handset, and you can just get it through that..
gnat Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 For some reason I cannot get the folders to sync - therefore I don't get the emails when they come through? All folders are empty? Odd!
srochford Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 You have to specify which folders you want to synch. When you have the folder list visible, scroll down to a folder you want to keep synchronised and press the left button ("options") - you'll see "subscribe to this folder" - select that and it will synch the folder contents. Once you've done that you should get access to the messages you want (but if it's like mine it will just randomly synchronise; it's currently telling me I have 7 unread messages even though Outlook tells me I've only got 1 (and Outlook is right ...) Has anyone used an N8 yet? Does that actually have an email client that works???
gnat Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Thanks Steve. That has worked however, I have another issue. When an email comes through you cannot see which folder it has gone into. On the list I can only see for example 'Ebay' 0 Folders. It doesnt say there is an unread email. Any advice muchly appreciated!
srochford Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Don't think you can see if a new message has gone into a folder without opening the folder. Unfortunately, Nokia's Exchange client is still poor - it's better than it used to be (when it didn't even handle folders) but it still has a really clunky feel to it.
browolf Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Funny, I have the exact same problem on my blackberry. I turned off most of the rules so as to see emails.
