Little-Miss Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 We seem to have lost internet connection in school. Have logged call with bgfl. Weird thing is I can get emails! My squid has failed some of disk check but I'm lost when it comes to that thing. But why are the emails getting through? I hate not understanding something!
plexer Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Email uses different ports and squid only caches/filters for you on port 80 or 1080 or 8080? Ben 1
PeteW Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Hi, I'm going to guess and say you are a Zimbra school, and if so then the servers are hosted internal to the BGfL and the proxy server is not needed. The proxy/squid/immic/volero should only be used when accessing resources outside the BGfL "bubble" as resources inside can be accessed directly (Depending on the what resources and if the school is allowed to access them) With your squid being down, the client will go direct instead of going via the squid. Hopefully that makes sense.
INeedAUsername Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 had a text this morning that BGFL are carrying out planned works on the BGFL mail servers in preperation for Zimbra on the 28th between 15:00 and 18:00 Although this has nothing to do with the OP's Squid server, it may help someone STariq
Silvor Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) A smoothwall guardian update at early hours seems to have screwed something up for us. Just port 80 filtering so no web, only emails. Edit: sorry not suggesting this is same problem for you...just sharing I also have a problem today :-( Edited October 26, 2010 by Silvor
