SimpleSi Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I've got a laptop and the Sophos popup (or a very good fake ) is popped up and saying that 1000's of .htm Smart Notebook file is infected with vbs/inor-aa (and other things occaionsally as well)! Surely this is shome short of mistook! Anyone had this sort of thing - is it liable to be real. Currently running an MBAM scan - found nothing yet Simon
Guest TheLibrarian Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Send Sophos the file and let them see if it's really infected or a false positive.
Azhibberd Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Running sophos here as well, And it hasn't been flagging up any smart notebook files... So either good fake... Or there not really smart notebook!
SimpleSi Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 MBAM just found something called backdoor.bot! Si
Azhibberd Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Time to image that machine by the sounds of it 1
SimpleSi Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 yep - going to spend zero time on it apart from transferring docs to another laptop - luckily I've 10 of the same type and the others are just used by pupills so we can sort quickly. Its just really annoying that normal people (e.g non-geeks) (the teacher is a friend of mine and doesn't mess arouund with computers - just uses them) can catch these sort of things even though the've got AV Simon
