Hantslad Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hi all Just came accross this site when googling .. I have just taken over a primary school and have been tasked with setting up a 'fail-safe' system. The bursar has a 'vision' of having a mirror, so I need to mirror our file server. Not something i have done before or know much about. Any of you guys got experience with this kinda thing .. or can offer advice? Would be muchus aprreciated .. - - - - - - - -
teejay Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 DFS is what you need if it's for file services. Active directory, DNS, DHCP you just run 2 servers, other things like print etc you run a cluster. Stuff like clustering would be cost prohibitive for a primary school as you need things like a SAN, but DFS and having redundancy on AD, DNS and DHCP is achievable. 1
Hantslad Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 Fantastic! Just been having a look at DFS and it looks like just the job. Thanks teejay
