twm Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Hi all, We have discovered an unhelpful little bug in Premiere Pro 2. It tries to use your My Documents folder as the default save/open location, but this doesn't work with hidden network shares e.g. \\server\username$\Docs. We really don't want to un-hide all user shares, so does anyone have any ideas? Cheers.
smalls001 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 You are change the scratch drive location. I am sure its under edit perferences. Personally I would save it to the local drive, which would speed up the program. I wouldn't like video file transferring over the network as they get rather large.
twm Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 I know, we use external USB hard drives to save stuff on. The problem is that we can't redirect My Documents to point at the hard drive, rather than the usual network location, for the subset of computers that have Premiere Pro. Perhaps I wasn't hugely clear about the problem: On our system, everyone's My Documents are stored on a server, and are accessed via a hidden network share (\\server\username$\Docs). There is a Group Policy set up to redirect each user's My Documents to the correct location when they log on. However, Premiere Pro 2.0 doesn't like dealing with hidden shares, and insists on using My Documents as the default save/open location. Is there a way to change the redirection of the My Documents to point to an external hard drive (D:) for a small subset of PCs, then return to normal when logging on elsewhere?
