danny0001uk Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) Morning All, This is my first post so be nice I have 10 laptops (toshiba L500's) to set up and thought Id use fog. Ive used it before on my network and it has been fine. When I boot to lan and register the Laptop its does all that fine and pulls the inventory.mac address etc But when I go to the Fog host screen it always stays red?????? even if i log onto windows and check the connection is working. I have other pc's that are working correctly with Fog and have the green status so it must be something to do with that particular laptop? The message is host unreachable even though it registered fine? Please could anyone help. Edited August 19, 2010 by danny0001uk
danny0001uk Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 I found out that if i give it a static ip address it connects fine. Does this mean something is wrong with my server setup?
morganw Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 As far as I know it just pings with the address from DNS. If it's red without an exclamation mark then it's in DNS but the ping failed. If the firewall is up on the client you have to allow the ping through (I think have to set a couple of ICMP exceptions). If the static address makes a difference is that also changing the way that your DNS records are updated?
