GIMP Default save location

Is there any way to set the default GIMP save location? I'm sure I managed to do it in my image last year but this year it isn't having any of it! It will 'stick' with a path I specify but once I exit the program and go back in it just goes back to the default path

Right click on the Gimp icon on the Windows deskbar or desktop. Select Properties and modify the "Start in:" directory according to your requirement, for example "C:\Documents and Settings\user.name\Desktop".
