CC4 - error on package deployment

Background: This is a new school for me and they have not had any support since the last tech left over 5 months ago! Running CC4 with SP1, and I have inherited a whole multitude of problems... School also has no support contract with RM as they are planning for a new network system (yet to be decided), but expected Aug /Sep / Oct. In the meantime I'm trying to keep everything ticking over....

 

I'm attempting to install several packages (cc4 updates) that have already been downloaded onto the server, but for whatever reason dont seem to have been assigned / deployed. Each time I get the following error when assigning package from the RMMC:

 

An error occurred while deploying packages

UnhandledException (Root element is missing)

 

Any ideas? Thanks

Presumably without a valid RM support contract you can't gain access to RM.com and look through the support articles?

I do have access to RM.com but theres nothing on there of any help!

If you have access to rm.com look for TEC1395295 - it has the solution to your problem

Thanks, but have already been through that tec article, prior to posting on here. Unfortunately it didnt resolve the problem. TEC1395295 was the only tech article that was remotely relevent on the Rm knowledgebase.

What Antivirus softwaere is the workstations and servers running.

Have you tried rebooting the servers

what happens if you rebuild a workstation.
