Disturbing intruders

Walking back from a teachers staff accomodation at 1am and heard one of the alarms going off. When I unset the alarm there was about 2 seconds of silence and then hearing running footsteps then silence again. Called the police who put me on hold so dialed 999 and the lady questioned if it was an emergency or not and I was honest in saying I dont know if there is anyone still in there.

 

Dog car came within 10 minutes (school is 20 miles from the nearest town) and the helicopter had arrived before him and then several other cars. Found an open window but no sight of anyone at all (200 acres of open land) which was surprising.

 

Best bit of all was doing the 2 minute walk back home one of the police vans passed me and did a quick U turn and actually stopped me and asked for ID from me. Only the name I gave to the operator which related to my driving license allowed me to get home quickly!

 

Just thought the police response was fantastic for just a "suspected" break in and so far away from any large population. And when nothing came up they still commited themselfs to searching an area of about 10 miles for another couple of hours.
