LosOjos Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 WARNING: FLASHING THE FIRMWARE ON YOUR ROUTER IS A VERY GOOD WAY OF KILLING IT. I WON'T BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR ROUTER, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! www.dd-wrt.com | Unleash Your Router I'm sure some of you will probably already of heard of this, but I only found it last night. Seems good so far, I've flashed it on to a D-Link DIR-615 D? (can't remember now if it's D1 or D2, came free when I signed up to Virgin Media) but I haven't had a chance to properly configure it yet. A quick test over at speedtest.net showed that I was hitting download speeds of about 9.8mbit on my 10mbit connection, was averaging around 7mbit beforehand. Anybody else used this? Got any tips on performance boosts you've found using this? 2
robyholmes Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Been using DD-WRT for a bit now. Very useful for all sorts of different things. The one thing I got it for was sub netting my network in 2, but haven't managed to do that yet due using a different router for internet and it blocking the internet at the same time. I'm sure I am just doing something wrong but never fixed it. For now I am happy with it. Also good for running multiple WiFi, I sometimes need to connect 3rd part laptops to my network and don't want to add them to my nice Wireless N with security, so create a unencrypted WiFi and connect to that.
timbo343 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I too have been using dd-wrt on one of my routers and it is VERY reliable..
