Making new user in Sims

I want to make myself a user in Sims for when installing Sims upgrades and getting school/class lists ect. At the moment I'm using the office managers password but it makes sense to have my own. So far I've made the user and added it to the system manager group. What other groups should I add?

For upgrades and things, usually making yourself school administrator would be sufficient. With the system manager group, you can add / delete users and assign permissions, so you can then go on from there if you need any others.

If you check out the SIMS permissions sheet, it will give you an overview of what each role / group in sysman does, and what access it has. To find it, just search for simsperm on SupportNet and download the most appropriate file. School Administrator has many permissions.

For class lists you would have needed timetabler / curricular manager, but i think from version 7.128, just a normal class teacher role would be fine.

For anything else, just add them as you see fit. It's common for people to think that system manager is like a 'god' account, that has all access, but it's not like that, and you need to have the correct group for the various areas.
