Anyone using OpenVPN Access Server to access server shares for staff

I have always had problems getting OpenVPN to work so gave OpenVPN Access Server a go at home using the VMware version and it worked really well in my test setup. I was just interested if anyone is using in their schools as I need to open up some server shares for the staff.

Can't say i have used OpenVPN but we use SSL explorer (know known as Adito) for access to this kind of thing for our students/Staff. It as has the features so we can set up RDP sessions to machines inside school for staff to have access to programs like sims etc from non school home computers. Don't have any problems with it.

I would use Adito - its 98% the same product its just a newer updated version as SSL explorer was purchased by barracuda.

Am I correct in thinking that Adito is now OpenVPN ALS? Should I use this version, it's what google points me at when I search for Adito.

It does look that way - i havn't been following it much so yes i would guess it is - the cached part of the page from google states

So thats correct - and yes the previous version of the previous version works well!

I almost have a complete OpenVPN Access Server setup working in one of my schools.

Have any of you tried Home Access Plus+. We use it, together with a Microsoft's Remote Desktop Web Gateway server to allow access to files without the full remote desktop enviroment

Finally got Active server by openvpn installed and I must say its great. Its very fast, supports AD intergration, and netbios over tcp so network shares are all working as though in the school. I used the vmware pre built applience so no real installing required, just a bit of tinkering in the gui.

How did you get mapped drives to work or have you a different method?

I am using the newest version.

In the web admin gui enter the advanced vpn setion and scroll down to windows networking. Select Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Enter your wins server IP and select m-node. Restart the server and your done, users have access to UNC shares.
