One of our bursary staff has a weird problem that I've not seen before. She is using a spreadsheet with a simple summation formula in one cell, it's just adding up cells to the left. If she copies and pastes the cell content to another cell, or if she fills a range of cells then the new cells display the result of the cell copied from instead of what it should be. The summation ranges in the cells copied to are correct and if the formula is manually typed into a new cell it's fine.

Anyone seen this before?

Sounds like it's not recalculating the formula to me. Go to tools > options > calculation and check automatic is selected.

We find that sometimes it is set to manual by default.

Try Paste Special Values only...
