Inspiron Mini 10 any good?

just wanted an opinion on how are they to use, thinking of trying to get one to carry around and install all the domain tools on it/use it to fix other problems/have op smartdesk always open(when i get round to ordering it) etc. i think id run skype or something similar on it so reception could get in contact with me anyhere in the building.

We have a couple of Dell Mini 9.

 

They are excellent. Good battery life, very reliable. I have found that the WIFI on Netbooks tends to be poor. On this one its really good.

I've had a Mini10v since the summer last year and it's ace.

With predominantly web-based use, I typically get 2-3 hours usage from the battery. Trackpad can be a little difficult, because it's not particularly tall, but the keyboard is comfortable and the screen is nice and bright.

 

In my domestic use, it's capable of many-tabbed internet browsing, streaming and local video playback and all the stuff you'd expect. It's a good and sturdy machine and if you go SSD, the rigors of mobile use won't break it.

 

(Also, it's a very capable OSx86 machine, if you're that way inclined...)

Ended up opting for the HP Mini in the end though.

we were looking into the dell mini 10 but it got so panned in the ratings we only brought one, the touch pad is so bad i wanted to throw it out the window.

 

we settled for samsung nc10 in the end, got about 130 of them now drivers are easy to install also

One of the best computers ever made - shame Mr Samsung didn't realise this and didn't replace it with the junk that is the N130/140.

I have a mini 9, an awesome bit of kit. I upgraded the wireless card to one that does A,B,G and N. It has an 8Gb solid state drive, so no moving parts at all. It has a built in 3G card as well so internet everywhere.

 

I know the new mini 10 comes with a hdd only, IMO a downside in something so small.

I tried the Mini10 and the Latitude 2100. The Mini10 wins the "smallest" the 2100 wins the most useful.

I've set up a few Mini10s as "photo storage and email" for traveling teachers due to there size, but I'd personally opt for the 2100 with the big battery option.
