CarolBooth Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Hi Our SLT want to share calendars including their timetables and private calendar entries. We have Zimbra so they can share personal calendars but I have no clue how to get their timetables in there. Is there an export out of SIMS into ical format or anything in SIMS that would do this? thanks! carol
NotSoFast Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) I don't know about SIMS (we use CMIS) but it's pretty easy to run an Access query that creates an instance of each lesson in a 2 week timetable for each fortnight in the year. You just export each teacher's timetable individually then make another table that holds each "Monday Week 1" (and so on) date in the year. I use Excel for this as I can just replicate down and across till I hit a holiday, then remove bank holidays and staff development days. You can then export as a CSV and import into Outlook or whatever you want to use (Google Calendars was the other one we considered but decided to stick with Outlook and Exchange due to familiarity - personally I fancy Google Apps for your Domain!). Have a look at the attachment. Hope it's helpful, SimonSLT Timetable to CSV.zip Edited March 18, 2010 by NotSoFast 1
CarolBooth Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 haven't had time to try this but thanks - that might solve another problem I've got for uploading my room bookings into mrbs (used as a block in our moodle)
NotSoFast Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Yes, I originally developed the database as a solution for putting the timetable as a whole into MRBS (which we never used in the end!) Simon
