active x not working

Afternoon,

 

Have a problem with a new notebook, its running windows 7 (starter, out of the box).

 

Has ie8 installed however no active x will run.

 

Here is what i have tryed so far:

 

1. install firefox, delete ie8, reinstall ie8.

 

2. tools - internet options - security - custom level - and enabled the active x taps

 

3. my computer - services - start active x control

 

any other ideas? has to be ie8 because its our standard here!!!! and ie7 will not run on windows 7!
