Mapped Network Drive with Redirected Folders

Hi - we've been happy using redirected folders for a couple of years (2003/XP) - but find the Macromedia element of the DIDA course material will not run without a mapped network drive pointing to the user's application data area. We're having problems getting the drive to work properly. There is a MS doc saying that it might not work because the mapping might run before the redirection occurs, so the folder is not there to map to.

 

Anybody cracked this one, or got any good ideas to try? Our folders are in the format

 

\\server\YearGroup\User

MS is right you need to redirect to the UNC share not the mapped drive letter.

I redirect to a UNC share with Group Policies. I then have a seperate login script that maps a drive letter (usually H: so it's out of the way of any USB drive assignments) to the same UNC share.

We use AD to map H: to the UNC share on the server, the setting in the Profile tab or the user properites.

 

We have My Documents redirected using a policy.

 

Works fine 99% of the time except sometimes, probably unrelated, the H: drive will only map as far as "\\server\users" instead of "\\server\users\year\user".

 

If this happens then to fix it we have to:

logoff user

clear the setting in AD properties that maps the drive

close properties

reopen properties

paste path back in the same

close properties

logon on again

Do you mean application data area as in their My Documents/Home folder or do you mean their Application Data folder which is in the top level of the profile?
