Can WDS be used in a mixed mode so that it supports RIS on Windows 2008 R2?

My understanding is that the answer is no.

We have a number of sites that for one reason or another still require RIS (usually because of equipment with low memory) and in those sites we have set up a seperate RIS server using the 'managed computer' setting in active directory to point the clients at that server. It's a pain but it works.
