joomla help needed ....again

greetings working on a mates band site i am doing in joomla, cant show you yet as its on my laptop (i love wamp)

 

setting the scene

lates joomla blah blah

just using the modded ja_purity theme as i like it

using the rokslideshow plugin (latest)

 

problem one

on the Horizontal nav i have 4-5 links to external sites (facebook, myspace, twitter, bebo, reverbnation). when setting these up you can assign an image but i cant get it to show.

i want '{fb icon} our facebook page' etc

 

how is this done??? can it be done?

 

problem two

i have the rokslideshow, it works with mod positions but i want it on the home page in place of an image. i read u have to use the {loadposition slideshow}. but this doesnt load the slideshow.

when i enable the slideshow title that shows up but no slide show.

it is enabled, as is the loadposition thingy, read up but as far as i know i am doing it correctly
