Program keeps trying to run MSI installer

This is doing my head in now. I recently migrated a new server for one of the primary schools complete with a ghosted image for the new workstations all around the school. The image was taken from an exisiting one and just updated before ghosting it out (I'm talking about the workstations here). The problem is now with a few of the programs when they are run they try to kick off an MSI installer, but they DO eventually run. Different machines are trying to run different installers (not their own msi by the way). E.g I run Information Workshop 2000 and it tries to run a PIPS installer. PIPS installer isn't even on the server anymore. I'm thinking this a registry issue cos I used an old image but I can't solve it. Server is Server2k3 sp2 and workstations are XP PRO SP3 Any ideas?

No matter, I found a solution here. I unregistered and re-registered msiexec, seems to have done the trick.
