Quackers Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 If i was to add a trial version of Windows 2008 R2 to a 2003 Server domain as a an extra domain controller, but then remove it, would Group Policy Preferences still work? I presume when you add 2008 Server it update the domain , do these updates that support Group Policy Preferences get removed when the last 2008 server is removed?
ZeroHour Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Group Policy preferences dont need 2008 to deploy it as a GP. You just need to edit GP using a modern client/server (aka vista+ 2008+) but you dont actually need to have a 2008+ dc to deploy them. They can also be applied onto xp/2003.
