is it possible to set this up for users (in one ou) but only have it apply when they log on to certain pcs (in this case a terminal server) as i dont yet want to change it for general use as current system works but as ts is 2008 i want to redirect doc/vids et all back to their user area

Use a Merged GP,

 

put it on the OU that the TS is in

 

then int he policy, right click its name and choose properties, then goto the security tab

untick Authenticated uses Apply Policy

and add the group of users you want it to apply to, and tick Apply group policy

i thought as there were no users in that group it basically ignored the user section

loopback processing? if so that worked (set it to replace) so now my test users (those with a ts profile lol) get my minimal policy couple of redirects scrap the common start menu etc enough to test with and when i get time i will actually write a proper policy. Right thats internal ts pretty much up and running now to get on with the main point ts gateway lol

yeah sorry should have been clearer... use loop back

 

merge would process both whats applied to the user and replace ignores the users and just applies whats in the user section down the computer part of the tree.

aye tbh the policies set for the xp and staff are written by someone else at out company and i dont know exactly what hes got set or why so if i do replace i know 100% what im getting so if it dosent work it me thats screwed up making it easier to kick the person involved lol
