WAMP & IIS7???

Not tested really but is it possible to run WAMP & IIS on the same server???

 

i am looking a redoing the school site in Joomla! but want to do it on our web server with the current site live still?

 

are there any problems in doing this?

Both IIS and Apache can run Joomla. Would it not be easier to just use what you have on there already as the web server?

 

But yes, you could run both, as long as they are running on different ports.

i have lots of experience running asp with iis6/7 but none running joomla with it. but i have ran/tested joomla on wamp im goin have a bash tonight remotly when no one will notice for 5 mins

We run Joomla on IIS6 fine. Just need to install PHP on IIS, this step by step video will get it working

Install MySQL, and your all ready to run Joomla.

 

You could put Joomla in subfolder, say /home then when its all working, just put an auto forwarder in your wwwroot to send them to the Joomla site in /home. Thats what i did

I'd second the idea of installing PHP for IIS as some media plugins won't work at all if using any port other than eighty, and you're opening yourself up to a world of pain by having two webservers running on the same box.

 

This is possible though- just with a lot of caveats.
