dgsmith Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Just gone to check prices for a stick of 2GB DDR2 ram - yikes! I realise DDR3 is being phased in now - but who said DDR2 would DOUBLE price this quickly? Only in the summer I could pick up 2GB for £15 (exc VAT), now finding the same (or equally reputable) brand for sub-£30 is near impossible! I don't remember this quick a jump from DDR>DDR2..
AyatollahPies Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Tell me about it. Built myself a new system back In july and just bought 4GB of RAM to test the system, with the aim of going to 8GB soon after as I was hoping to do more Virtualisation testing yadda yadda yadda. Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel was circa £35 in July from Ebuyer Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel is now £90 from Ebuyer That £90 would buy a lot of Beer over Xmas! Have just noticed that Overclockers are doing a !!!!!This Week Only offer!!!!! and selling it for £70, but that's still double what it was 4-5 months ago.
FN-GM Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 (edited) We got some from Simon at CPLTD pretty cheap a few week ago. Give him a shout to see what he can do. Its annoying because it looks like its going the same way DDR is. Bloody expensive! Edited December 5, 2009 by FN-GM
