Guest monkeyx Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Can anyone recommend a card swipe/bio metric system that would allow us to store staff and student attendance into our MIS system. We have had some initial prices back from Serco for their recommended provider which would have provided two logging points and a laptop for logging. As we initially only want to track staff attendance. The price we have been quoted is well above what I would have hoped to pay though! So any suggestions are very welcome Tim
mbyrew Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 We use Easytrace. EasyTrace | Home On their home page, the image is of the Academy. Contact the and they'll help for sure. Not sure how the costs will match up to what you've been quoted but worth a try.
Serco_Rob Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 We work with a range of partners who provide swipe cards and biometrics. If you go to this link you will find a list of all of them - they have partner integration to our database: Serco Facility for UK Schools Thanks Rob
mbyrew Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 A cautionary tail based upon real experience. Card based registration still relies on a human element that is doomed to failure as long as children remain children. That is this :- they wash, break, loose, swap etc. the cards that a card based system depends upon. If you are seriously considering implementing a system, go with biometrics. Finger prints can't be lost or swapped. By doing this you will make the mechanics of the system easier to manage / error track.
BandyQuill Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 yeah we had a card based system when i was in 6th form... we all used to leave our cards in one locker and whoever was there earliest signed everyone in XD
