wesleyw Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Does anyone know of any open source backup software that will backup 64bit and windows 2008? I've been taking snapshots of the VMs at present but saving them to another system is quite tricky at present as one of the VMs is 760gb? I just need to save c drive and system states and in regards to the DC AD info. Wes
plexer Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Whats wrong with the built in backup tools? Ben
Soulfish Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Have a look at Bacula (Bacula, the Open Source, Enterprise ready, Network Backup Tool for Linux, Unix, and Windows). Supposed to work quite well, but haven't got around to trying it myself . Amanda/Zmanda is another open source possibility that I believe will work with 2k8 64-bit (AMANDA, The Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver). Both have paid support/enterprise versions should you ever wish to "upgrade" as well
wesleyw Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 There aren't any in windows 2008 that give a granular backup Wes
plexer Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 You just need a system state backup. Windows Administration: Active Directory Backup and Restore in Windows Server 2008 EC: How to backup System State only in Windows Server 2008? Ben
