Guest theeldergeek Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Managed to get hotmail working for users by inserting custom allowed URL's, and the users can access their hotmail accounts, however they cannot download attachments. What do I need to do in Guardian to allow this facility?
computer_expert Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 possibly check the bannedextention list/page to see if said attachments are in the list to be blocked?
Guest theeldergeek Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 possibly check the bannedextention list/page to see if said attachments are in the list to be blocked? bannedextention [sic] list/page? Where is that?
computer_expert Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) bannedextention [sic] list/page? Where is that? on smoothwall express 3 (with the dansguardian mod installed), its in /etc/dansgaurdian/[profile you use, eg adult]/bannedextentionlist. in schoolguardian, i'd imagine that its on one of the filtering pages but i don't have a schoolguardian box to check it on edit - this should help you find the page you are looking for on SG. nile_c Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I would definitely take a look at the file extensions selected under 'File security' in 'guardian >> filtering >> filters'. If, for example, archives are blocked this may be your problem. The sure-fire way to confirm the problem is to check your logs and/or show an excerpt if you are not sure. Let us know how you get on!

Think we may have cracked it already, as you say, under the 'filters' section. Won't know if it really works till Monday when the students who need to use it will be trying to download. Thanks.
Guest theeldergeek Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Think we may have cracked it already Yep, we had. Just needed to allow files to be downloaded! Easy when you know how!
