This is really annoying me now as i cannot get it to work. all i want to do is make synctoy run when i plug my flash drive into my computer, but it will just not do it

I have tried the autorun.inf method and the Autoplay option (after adding an autoplay handler via tweakui) and it will just not work at all.

i have created a batch script pointing towards the synctoy.exe file (and synctoycmd.exe with the -R switch) and put it in the root of the memory stick and set the autorun.inf to launch the batch script which then should of launched synctoy. i get as far as the cmd window flashing up and closing, but it doesn't launch synctoy.exe (or synctoycmd.exe either).

i'm running XP Pro and synctoy 2.0.

Thanks in advance.

Has an awesome autorun utility as far as i know, it works on the same lines as the autorun.inf method as you mentioned above i think (not 100% as i haven't used this feature in the program.)

All you do is edit the config file, and click on the install .bat file included in the zip file. once installed it will call up which ever program you specified in the config fille.

you can get really clever with this i beleive, i.e. specifying different programs to autorun on different ports on a machine.

hope this helps ;)

thanks for that! :)

i'll give it a go and see what happens.

after a quick flick through the webpage, i thought this was quite funny:

A World-Wide License allows anyone in the organization making the purchase, who is on the planet Earth, to use the software.

Thanks again for posting the links that program :)

It now works fine, but the only thing i can't get synctoy to do is to sync the folders automatically & silently. however, i can live with the synctoy gui popping up every time i plug my flash drive in.

excellent glad it works for you mate, would imagine it might take a bit of tweaking and a bit of imaginative scripting maybe to get that syncing silently with the swithces and the cmd app u mentioned?
