6Foot2 Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 We have recently deployed Office 2007 [RE-imaging the stations using Ghost] Some users are getting the error message: "Microsoft Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." or "Microsoft Publisher has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." etc. You get the idea. Most of the stations work perfectly well for most users on the network. So far we have seen this in one room on a 3 or 4 stations. All stations in that room are the same make/model/specification and were imaged at the same time with the same image. So why is this happening? This is closest match I have found [and applying this resolution works] but it is a fix for Office 2003 and Office XP. Link: Microsoft Word has not been installed for the current user I would really like a resolution which is intended to solve this issue as applied to Office 2007 and I would like to prevent it popping up again. Any ideas?
maniac Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Well if that solution works then I would stick with it. You could write a very simple script using XCACLS to change the permissions on this file at workstation startup, that would save you logging onto every machine and doing the change manually.
AngryTechnician Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 You can also apply security permission to files via Group Policy (Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\File System.)
