[php] probs authenticating in MRBS

I have been running MRBS successfully for over a year, then we had problems with authenticating users. Originally it was set up with session = http and type = config.... but on window XP machines with Explorer that are image by our IT dept they no longer can log in. (though I can use a XP machine that is not imaged and a MAC successfully). Since these errors have occurred I have upgraded to MRBS 1.4.2 and have tried to change the authentication to session = php and type = db.... the users table has been added and names & passwords have been imported ..... but I cannot get past 'UNKNOW USER' when trying to make a entry into the database.

 

Any suggestions to correct this would be appreciated.
