Automatic creation of user folders for home, roaming profile and redirected folders.

Was just skimming the EduMove PPT, that promises a "fix permissions" feature and as advertised that wouldn't work for me because I more or less use the method summarised on the MS DS Team blog.

 

Take a server path to a user folder:

 

X:\User\Staff\

 

In this world all the permissions are inherited from the folder *above* the user's e.g. the permissions that count are set on the "Staff" folder. Here fixing the permissions means all we want is the correct Creator/Owner on folders/files in the user folder (which incidentally fixes the user's quota usage), something you only need to do if some Admin has dropped files into a user's folders.

 

Bottom line: I just create user accounts, their folders take care of themselves.
