avery label printing

hi all

 

am trying to print some avery laser jet labels [the peel off type] using the avery design lite pro software for windows.

 

great little bit of software but am having problems trying to setup the printing of barcode label in the way i'd like.

 

I've gone to insert a barcode label, checked the option to display plaintext, this will print the barcode number below the actual barcode. But the plaintext is spread across the length of the barcode, and i don't find that particularly easy to read. Changing the font size, bold, line spacing doesn't appear to make any difference. I just want to be able to print the barcode value as plaintext below the barcode and have it not spaced out just the usual reading distance between characters.

 

Any ideas for those who've used the software or are in the process of trying it out ? if only to help me out of this bind ?

I can see what you mean based on the labels I have printed here but then I'm using a 4 digit number starting at 1000 so it doesn't look too bad.

trouble is i'm using manufacturer serial numbers where available, so they range anywhere from 5 to a dozen or more digits.

 

It's well annoying. Can't even download the avery wizard for microsoft office to see if creating the labels in office with the avery wizard makes any difference, keep getting a page not found error.

I ran in to this problem with both barcode labels and serial number labels. In the end I went through a local company who did both for me. They were really fast and efficient. If you want a link to there site just let me know and I will post it on here for you.

how do you manage that ? Are you using a 2D barcode ?

No the true serial would be scanned in as an additional data field, gives us 2 things at least to be abel to searchon to identify a piece of equipment.
