Fading images

I want to fade a series of pictures on a webpage. I currently use Flash for this but I am finding it very time consuming when I want to update the pictures. Unless there’s a quick way to change flash images I was thinking about using java script from CodeLifter.com - JavaScript Cross-Browser SlideShow Script with Image Cross-Fade

 

Any recommendations for something better?

Still use Flash but try finding a copy of Powerbullet Presentor, used it before and its quite like powerpoint but creates flash files, fades are a doddle. Look at The Doncaster Wheelers Cycling Club Web Siteon the front page for some examples using it (left and right hand sides). Not top notch but hey, I'm no graphic designer either!

Flash doesn't let you set alpha (transparency) directly on a bitmap image, you have to create a symbol from it first. Therefore all you have to do is replace the bitmap images inside the symbols in your Flash file, the fading bit will happen the same as it did before. Also, you could make your Flash widget load the bitmaps separatly after it loads, then you can set it up to get whatever images you like. This would also make the widget quicker to load and render on the page.
