Jobos Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 How do I make OWA open PDF and DOCX attachments rather than forcing users to save the file first
BJG Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 What version of Exchange are you using...? Does this help...? Error message when you click a message attachment in Outlook Web Access after you apply Exchange 2000 Server SP2: "This attachment must be saved to disk"
Jobos Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 What version of Exchange are you using...? Does this help...? Error message when you click a message attachment in Outlook Web Access after you apply Exchange 2000 Server SP2: "This attachment must be saved to disk" Yes but I should have said that we're running Exchange 2003 not Exchange 2000. I tried using OWA at my other school that also runs Exchange 2003 and that gives the same error when openning DOCX and PDF files.
BJG Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Sounds like it may either be Exchange 2003's attachment security features... Description of the KnownContentTypes registry entry for Outlook Web Access in Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 ...or a specific problem some have encountered with PDF files, and which needs to be fixed within Acrobat Reader itself. 1. Start Adobe Acrobat Reader. 2. From the tool bar of Acrobat Reader select "Edit | Preferences". 3. From the left pane in the preferences Window select "Internet". 4. Under the Web Browser Options heading UNCHECK the option next to "Display PDF in browser" 5. Click OK and exit the Acrobat Reader program. 6. Login to Outlook Web Access using Internet Explorer, right click on the attached PDF file and select Open in new window. Cannot open pdf atatchments from OWA 2003 : Microsoft, OWA, SBS 2003 Have you looked at the OWA Administration tool...? I get the impression that can be used for configuring attachment security settings. Download details: Microsoft Exchange Server Outlook Web Access Web Administration
Jobos Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 I've installed the OWA Administration tool and added DOCX, PDF to the list of allowed file attachments. DOCX still refuses to open and the only way I can open PDFs is if I right click the attachment and choose open in new window
