Sony VGN-Z21WN - Trying to install 7 on it... problems..

Hi

 

I tried to install the latest build of windows 7 today, I get to the point where it is starting to check info. It starts and then tells me it needs dvd drivers, now I am baffled as it got this far already.

 

Any ideas, it has been a long day and I probably have overlooked something really simple.

I'd guess the only thing you've overlooked is that it's a Vaio and they are, quite simply, the spawn of the devil :-)

 

The only thing I can think of is the Intel SATA drivers - I wouldn't expect you to need them but bitter experience of Sony suggests that anything is possible!

I'm installing it now on a pretty beefy Toshiba and it's taking an age to expand the Windows files...

right now I am battling witih Sims upgrade not working, every upgrade I have run since starting at my school has ended this way. I look forward t telling the the Cover lady tomorrow morning at 6am that sims is broken again after an upgrade.

 

I have gone past being angry, I am really upset now.

Off topic with this but is the SIMS machine up to date with windows updates etc? .NET framework service packs being a very common issue there.

yeah sorry it was off topic, yeah everything is up to date.

 

The DB backup is failing for no reason, well no reason I am getting. Sitting here at home sat next to my girlfriend who is a teacher, she is working, I am working.

 

we don't get paid enough...well she does I don't.
