sshaw Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Hi all, Started using iTalc 1.0.9 recently in 3 IT suites without issue but in the last week I've been getting a lot of "Unknown State" and "Host Unreachable" messages on random machines. I've patched the 3 teacher machines with the TCPIP.sys fix which has improved the connectivity a little but I still seem to be getting random dropouts across the 3 rooms. I've checked the windows firewall settings and the ICA.exe and the client have both been allowed. I'm starting to think it may be a network congestion issue, I just started a new post and some of the switch gear is quite outdated here ,there are bottlenecks at certain points of the network but they cannot be resolved just yet.... I may of course be barking up the wrong tree so any assistance would be greatly appreciated
tmcd35 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Check your DHCP lease time against your DNS aging and scavaging time. Also check DHCP is updating DNS correctly. Odds on it's a DNS issue. iTalc is probably looking for the computer using an old IP address in DNS. 1
sshaw Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 (edited) Thanks, I did consider DNS as a potential issue but hadn't looked into it. I'll check that out now *EDIT* Checked both DNS and DHCP, the lease is valid for another 24 hours and seems correct in both the DNS lookup entries and DHCP.... Bugger.....
