Hi

I've had a quick look at other posts but unable to find what I'm looking for. Apologies if I have overlooked someone's and it has answered the same request. :?

I am looking for an example of a curriculum policy for a First school/primary school.

The LEA have issued guidelines for an AUP and that's been finalised. The info I have gathered so far has been from one end of the spectrum to another regarding a curriculum policy.

can anyone help please? :o

To be fair that is really the ICT Co-Ord to create the school ICT policy.

sorry, you probably need the functional specifiaction:

http://www.becta.org.uk/subsections/foi/documents/technology_and_education_research/functional_spec_institutional_infrastructure.pdf

In its Functional Specification for Institutional Infrastructure, Becta specifies a comprehensive set of

requirements from institution infrastructure that need to be accessible to in order to offer learners,

educators and administrators a wide range of choice and access to ICT, support flexible working via

ICT, manage data and improve efficiency and secure data and protect the user.

I think that what you are asking for is really two seperate things.

1. You would like an AUP... for this check out the Wiki for examples

2. A plan for ICT development... the functional specification mentioned above will help you with this. The 'matrix' is also very useful in quickly providing you with a plan.

No I'm not..... I HAVE an AUP.... done, dusted and in the past!

I don't want anything either about specifications and planning for the future.

What I need is how it affects the curriculum....how it is used .... assessed....monitored, used with other subjects etc.... That is why it is entitled ICT Curriculm Policy!

What do you mean? - To be fair that is really the ICT Co-Ord to create the school ICT policy.

Are you saying that every school co-ordinator has to sit down wasting their time writing their own when every school has to have one?

Surely we ought to be helping each other?

BTW - what job do you do?

I AM the ICT co-ordinator/Network Admin and SMT!

Sorry... all that talk of AUPs, etc. makes my head hurt and things slip out.

It is usually the ICT Coordinator's responsibility to write the 'cross-curricular ICT development plan' (I think that this is what you are after).

The way I understand it, all schools should have a plan which is simply editted periodically.

The reason, I guess, that there is no 'generic' policy/plan is that all schools will implement the curriculum in their own way - concentrating on specific areas, teaching different topics and having different resources available.

All teachers should have lesson plans, outlining exactly how they intend to teach (at least they should in secondary schools). Perhaps collecting copies of these and pulling the ICT-related parts out will help you.

No didn't mean it like that, policies are to be shared of course. :D Just saying that its not the ICT support Technician / Managers position to start creating / editing such documents. But seeing as you are everything rolled into one then that comment doesn't apply.

As for my role, I'm a Network Manager - Who is married to an ICT Co-ord / member of SMT so I understand the situation / workload you have.

Welcome to the forums BTW :D

lol think bit of misunderstanding there

ok i will attempt to answer....

But this temporary while we waits for tony who more knowledgeable than me :)

As ric said this is someways needs to be tied into school first work out what whole school ict plan is so can be tied into this...

At primary level the policy focusing on what is required of national curriculum policy at ks1/2 and how your school fits into this.

So best thing i can suggest is write different strands of nc and then next to them write where in school these are being meet.

So for example if one strand was to use ict to communicate in positive and correct way (notsaying it is just using an example) then you might say well in years 4,5,6 they use email to communicate with other students and then in year 6 they use it to communicate with pupils from france.

You get idea...

Few urls for you

hope this helps

Thanks Russ - as you say some misunderstanding!!!

The Becta link was great as it gives some guidelines - I seemed to have missed that bit while searching.

The ICT teachers one - I know about. Unfortunately these are old ones. The Curriculum has changed and with the addition of all the new peripherals we have access to now plus cross curricular links - there is just so much to put in.

Ideally working with someone who is also updating theirs would be ideal. I've tried on so many forums and within our LEA and the response is.... well obviously no one is doing theirs at the mo!

Having just sorted out the AUP and ploughing my way through the ICT mark criteria..... I was just hoping for some respite.

@rosalie36: Have you tried getting hold of lesson plans, curriculum objectives, etc.? I'm sure that scribbling on these would give a good starting point... even if it doesn't cover everything that you want to include.
