Adobe CS3 - Home Folder Redirection

OK, after a file server crash, we re-installed with DFS enabled on the shares along with Access Based Enumeration - which is working great

 

A bit too well actually as Adobe CS3 is now throwing up errors about acces being denied

 

What I'm seeing is that its trying to access the users Home folder via the UNC Path - and they cant due to NTFS (enforced via the ABE)

 

Now my question is..

 

How the heck do you force Adobe to look at

 

H:\

 

and not

 

\\dfs\share\path\%username%\

 

Had a right good ol' arguemnt with Head of IT over it (basically saying they need to OK all the errors, then click Computer, then their Home Drive... to open/save

Users need read access at the folders all the way from the root of the share to their folder - but only "This folder only"

 

So they will need Read/Execute This folder only on \share\path\

 

ABE will stop them seeing the other folders in there assuming permissions are correct (really make sure you get the folder only option right first time, as you don't want to give them read on everything). If that doesn't work then CS suite is not dfs compatible, which wouldn't surprise me at all.

Will double check the permissions on the \share\path tomorrow...

Its a right royal PITA - went from them having access to the lot via the SYSTEM account to this ..

we use DFS and have CS3 and it does work ok.

 

we had to have List folder content for authenticated users all the way down the DFS tree to the users folder for things to work correctly.

 

we found that this was enough and that read access wasn't needed explicitly

Ok folks desperately need some help with permissions here..

 

Local Path: D:\Home Drives\Pupils\Year xx\%username%

Local Share: \\Fileserver\Home$ (Shared Folder in blue above)

DFS Share: \\\Shares\Homes\ -> points to Local Share

 

Pupils to only access %username%

Staff RW Access to all pupil's %username%'s

 

What share & NTFS permissions should I have and where?

 

Groups: G All Pupils, G All Staff, G ICT Support
