We've got to install FMS on another workstation. The Capita support website doesn't seem to contain a guide and our LEA support have yet to get back to us.

I seem to recall having to use a CD but can't be sure anymore.

Help much appreciated.

If you get a definitive answer on this - I'd love to see it - horrible horrible software

Tell me about it - absolute pants.

It's why I've never had anything to do with it in the past but now I've got to.

S:\SIMS\SETUPS\FMS\FMSAPPLICATIONSETUP.EXE

That should do the trick.

Hi, thanks. We're confused as there is the exe as above but also one in S:\SIMS\SETUPS\FMSAPPLICATIONSETUP.EXE

Seem to recall one was for different sql configs / versions?

FMS runs okay and when we launch it we get the dialog box asking for the location of FMSConnect.ini.

We assume then we've got to show it where it is, so when we type ourservername\sims2005 into the Server Name field and then click the OK button we get an error message stating:

"Exception Exception in module Finance.exe at 00163B12. Create user DSN has Failed".

I have installed FMS dozens of times and no two installs have gone through alike. I find the best method for us at the moment is:

Run S:\SIMS\SETUPS\FMS\FMSAPPLICATIONSETUP.EXE

Find a working FMS workstation

Copy the contents of its FMS folder over your new workstation's FMS folder.

It saves much of the hassle of diagnosing the many and varied errors FMS throws up after a new install.

Are your FMS users running with admin rights? I found that I had to loosen the permissions on the Program Files\SIMS\FMSSQL to give them Modify rights when they were running as non-admins.

We have a GPO which replicates the functionality of simsperm.bat. As part of that they have modify access to everything under c:\Program Files\SIMS\

Details of the GPO settings are attached to another thread as an HTM file. If you want them let me know and I'll try to dig it out.

Thanks for the advice. This is what we've been doing but a little voice in my head keeps saying we shouldn't have to do this!
